I think this is an exceptional idea and wish you success. I propsed a campaign to Age Concern once called 'Living Next Door To Alice' that suggested neighbours get to know eachother and work out a rota for popping in and visiting the vulnerable on their street ie: the elderly, young mums etc. - I think most people would be more than willing to spare a little time but just don't know where to start or how to get over the awkwardness of introductions and first encounters.
